P17 Solutions is seeking a System Engineer to join our team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Tech Ops Organization. This is an on-site, full-time position located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace in Egg Harbor Township NJ.
The System Engineer with mid-senior level expertise in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and system integration to support federal and enterprise-scale modernization initiatives. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and managing secure, automated infrastructure supporting software development and testing environments across multiple FAA programs and cloud platforms.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in infrastructure-as-code, containerization, CI/CD automation, and multi-cloud management, combined with a solid background in software engineering and federal systems compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain DevOps infrastructure and pipelines supporting software development, testing, and deployment in hybrid cloud environments.

Architect and manage containerized platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift to optimize scalability, performance, and security.

Develop and automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and related Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools

Administer cloud platforms (AWS, Red Hat OpenShift) including EC2, S3, IAM, and VDI environments supporting 100+ users.

Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and other tools to streamline software delivery and reduce deployment times.

Integrate and maintain SSO and access management systems (Keycloak, Zscaler Private Access) to ensure secure, unified authentication across platforms.

Serve as a technical liaison between engineering teams, federal stakeholders, and leadership-translating technical requirements into actionable solutions.

Support legacy-to-cloud migration efforts, ensuring compliance with FAA and federal cybersecurity standards.

Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Contribute to Agile/Scrum development cycles, supporting backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience and 8+ years

OR Master's degree in, Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience and 5+ year

8+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure management.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity and prior work with FAA programs

- Knowledge of design assurance principles in safety-critical or regulated industries (aviation, aerospace preferred)
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.

Base Pay: The base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
